Cracking clay, sugar gums and the exposed western plains

From St Albans and Albion across to Ardeer and Cairnlea, much of Brimbank was open basalt grassland before the houses arrived, so the biggest trees tend to be planted gums and old peppercorns rather than dense native forest. Either way, keeping canopies balanced and free of deadwood is the best guard against damage when the wind picks up across the plains.
